of drawings was originally kept by the Heidenreich in a compact cahier
format.22

A testimony to the fact that we are dealing here with the remnants of
Heidenreich’s sketchbook is the inventive function and occasionally very

from being scattered. Pieter Candid de Witte described the pages of a sketchbook that was in his
possession in a similar fashion adding the note to future owners of the sketchbook asking that the
