at the turn of the century and was Minister of the Treasury during the
administrations of Karol Bacleni and Jan Paderewski; this portrait constitutes
a significant addition to the collection of portraits by Wyczólkowski in the
National Museum in Warsaw.

Aleksander Lesser (1814-1884), 83 sketches, studies for paintings, drawings,
and designs, purchased in 1996, inv. no. Rys.Pol. 11458-11540. This group
constitutes an important addition to the rich collection of the artist’s works
presented to the Museum in 1918 and 1919 by Julia Bergson Lesser-Blattejs
and other members of the Lesser family.

Feliks Jablczynski (1865-1928), 89 plates (dry point on celluloid, and the
artist’s own technique on tin), from 1900-14, with views of Warsaw, Italian
and Dutch motifs; the gift of Flanna Jablczyriska-Jçdrzejewska, inv. no. Gr.Pol.
160901-16179. Feliks Jablczynski, a chemist by education, engaged in writing,
criticism, translation, painting, and invention, worked with even greater
success in graphic techniques. The National Museum in Warsaw possesses
a representative collection of his graphic work, and with the newly presented
plates now has a valuable addition that will permit a better understanding of
the methods he used.

Olga Boznanska (1865-1940), Sketchbook (37 cards measuring 18.5 x 13.5cm)
purchased in 1997, inv. no. Rys.Pol. 11543. The National Museum in Warsaw
possesses a significant collection of paintings by this distinguished Polish
painter active mainly in Paris; the sketchbook contains sketches of various
kinds of compositions: portraits, still lifes, flower arrangements, and interiors,
as well as particularly valuable self-portrait sketches.

The Collections of Contemporary Art:

Tytus Czyzewski (1880-1945), Madonna, ca. 1920, oil on canvas, 69 x 57cm,
deposit of Elzbieta Smai, 1996, inv. no. Dep.25 89. A painting by the distinguished
Polish painter of the first half of the 20th century, also a poet and a essayist,
initially involved with futurism, later with the colorists as a member of the
“Formisci” group.

Jerzy Ryszard Zielinski (1943-1980), Save our Souls, 1977, oil on canvas, 96.5 x
130 cm, the gift of Wieslawa Zielmska-Jamak, wife of the artist, in 1996, inv.
no. MPW 3876; I am, 1969, oil on canvas, 200 x 131cm, deposit by the artist’s
wife 1996, mv. no. Dep.2537; Without Revolt, 1970, oil on canvas, pillow,
nail, 149.5 x 200 x 80 cm, deposit by the artist’s wife 1996, inv. no. Dep.2538;
The Last Romantic, 1969, oil on canvas, 200 x 96.5cm and 108.5 x 166cm,
gift from the organizers of the exhibition Neo Neo Neo 1996 (see Bulletin,
XXXVI, 1995, no. 3-4, s. 83).

Jerzy Ryszard Zielinski “Jurry”, a student of Jan Wodynski and Jan Cybis at
the Warsaw Academy of Fine Arts, in the 1970s practiced “Dobson”, his
own version of abstract expressionism called neo-neo-neo. The works were
deposited in 1996, supplementing the 9 paintings by Zielinski in the
collections of the National Museum in Warsaw.
