landscapes from such places as Belz, Berezne, Czartorysk, Dubno, Klawan,
Krzmieniec, Miçdrzyrzec Ostrogski, Olyka, Slonim, Smordwa, Wisniowiec.
Jan Rustem, a souvenir book from 1790-1832, purchased in 1997, inv. no.
Rkps.2593. A valuable source for the biography of the Vilnius painter Jan
Rustem (1762-1835), his contacts with University of Warsaw circles, the
Vilnius gentry and intelligentsia, and with the Masons, likewise useful for
dating portraits which the author never dated.

The Poster Museum at Wilanów:

In 1996 the museum acquired 96 posters, mainly with movie, theater, and
exhibitions themes from 1995-96, as well as Polish posters from the 1930s
and 40s from the Polish Museum of America in Chicago.

In 1997 it acquired a number of posters, including groups of works by
outstanding contemporary poster and graphic artists such as Jan Lenica,
Waldemar Swierzy, Wojciech Fangor, Roman Cieslewicz, Franciszek Starowieyski,
Stanislaw and Wojciech Zamecznik, Henryk Tomaszewski, Józef Mroszczak,
Andrzej Pqgowski, Julian Palka, Jan Bokiewicz, and Jan Mlodozeniec.

The Paderewski Museum of Emigration in America:

Zygmunt Acedanski (1909-1991), Portrait of the Pianist Paderewski, 31.5 x
18.5cm, purchased 1997, inv. no. Pad 66. This acquisition item supplements
the iconographie items collected by the Museum associated with the famous
pianist and statesman (1860-1941).

The Museum in Nieborów and Arkadia:

Urszula Brzozowska-Strzalecka, 11 landscapes from Nieborów, gouache on
paper, 1995, gift of the artist 1966, inv. no. NB 4942-4952.

Janusz Strzalecki, 4 landscape drawings from Nieborów, gift of the artist 1997,
inv. no. NB 4960-4963.

Henryk Chylinski, Trans, serigraph on paper, gift of the artist, inv. no. NB
4964.

These works were presented by the artists in connection with their exhibitions
in the Gardener’s House (see above).

PUBLICATIONS:

In 1996-97 the National Museum in Warsaw published 3 catalogues of its
