Grautama’s Parentage.
uring the reign of Sinhanu, the kingdom
of Kapilvastu enjoyed every kind of
peace and prosperity. This sovereign
possessed all the noble and manly quali-
ties which are considered as the chief requisite
of a good and benevolent ruler. The rights of
the subject were respected, and no pains were
spared to bestow on him the advantages of a
free yet strong government. Consequently the
people of Kapiivastu were second to none of
their neighbours in wealth and art.
