accord the music and spirit of Mozart
flowed into his work. In its graceful
rhythm, the figure and ornamental work
of the Cherubin Palace, the figure above
the framework of the stage, the creations
with which the ceiling is ornamented, the
frieze on the boxes, seem like the strains of
a violin become plastic. In this way the
type of the sociable - mundane - artistic
room has been created. New tasks were
put before the artist in quick succession.
In Pforzheim also he was given the com-
mission to decorate the interior of a theatre
with plaster work and to build on the out-
side an impressive porch. In Munich he
had again to decorate a place of amuse-
ment, a cafe; and the exhibitions to be
opened here have brought him new and
important commissions. 000
All this is, if not a first beginning, still
the beginning of new things. The artist
has every possibility of development and
expansion before him still. If one can
judge by his life and work hitherto, it
seems to be without question that he will
make good use of his possibilities. W. G.

the plastic decoration of the hall of a
variety theatre in one of the most fashion-
able hotels of Munich, also the casino
belonging to it. The name of this theatre
was " Cherubin Palace." The name
Cherubin, however, gave wings to Ander-
son's imagination, gave him all possible
inspiration. He thought of the graceful
Mozart page Cherubin, and as if of its own
