L'établissement des premières Verreries de la République de
Venise paraît remonter à l'année 1028, alors que le fameux doge
Pietro Orseolo faisait venir de Constantinople, pour l'exécution
des travaux de la basilique de Saint-Marc, une colonie d'artistes
grecs dont une partie exécuta ces magnifiques mosaïques de verre
a fond d'or encore si justement admirées de nos jours. Les échan-
tillons de Vases que nous donnons sont dessinés, comme ceux de
la P. 91, en grandeur d'exécution. — Musée de Cluny. — Les
