Les mœurs plus sédentaires, un climat plus rigoureux sem-
blent avoir localisé en Allemagne l'usage des Poêles en fonte
ou faïence. Le dessin de celui-ci est tiré de l'Ordonnance des
cinq colonnes de W. Dietlerlin (voy. p. 22, 82).
La première partie de ce livre curieux parut d'abord à Stult-
gard, 1593 ; une deuxième édition, plus, complète, vit le jour
à Nuremberg, chez les frères Hubert et Balthazar Caymocx.
1598. Cette dernière contient plus de 200 compositions de Dé-
tails d'architecture et de Décorations diverses. Nous avons
en préparation une suite nombreuse de ces planches pleines
d'une imagination fiévreuse, d'une fantaisie et d'une couleur
singulières, qualités qui ne satisfont pas toujours ceux qui re-
cherchent uniquement l'aspect aimable et gracieux dans les

The use of faience or cast iron Stores has become gênerai
in Germany, probably on account of the cold climate and also
the more sedentary customs. The drawing of the présent one
is takenfrom W. Dielterlin's Ordonnance of the fivecolumns
(see p. 22, 82). — The first part of this curious book appeared
in Stutlgard towards 1593. The second and more complète
ediiion was published in Nuremberg by the brothers Hubert
and Balthazar Caymocx, in the year 1598. This last édition
contains more than 200 compositions of Détails of Architec-
ture and diverse décorations. We are now preparing a great
quantity of thèse plates, vvhich are the productions of an enfe-
vered imagination, and in which (he colour will be found fan-
ciful and singular. Thèse oddilies will, no doubt, bring but
small satisfaction to those amateurs who seek only délicate
and easy aspects in Works of art. — Pl. 59 of the second édi-
