B. Piltoni, are a proot
that even at the xvilL cen-
tury artists did not fail
borrowing from the mate-
rials which surrounded
them. Thus, the frame of
figure 313 is taken from a
séries oîCartOtichs which
illustrate Mercator's Géo-
hraphy (Antwerp School,
1574), and which will be
found in our pages.
As for the frame of Nr.
314,it canbe easily recog-
nised, being executed at
the Fontainebleau palace.
It ornaments (save sundry
différences of no impor-
