Scholastic treatise on topics of Natural Science, beginning 1 r: Cum presens libellus sit de
rebus naturalibus et ad alios libros naturales qualiter & introductorius . . . and ending, 79v:
Et finita sunt notata parvuli philosophic dominica die post festum Bartholomei (August 31)
in medio prime et 2e horarum per Johannem Bischoffwerder anno domini 1466. Pro cuius
completione iaudetur deus et benedicta mater eius. Amen.
Fol. 80v.—81 r: Moral virtues and their contraries.
Fol. 82r.—85v.: A philosophical essay dealing with moral and intellectual qualities en-
ding on 1. 85v. with the date: Anno domini 1469.
The principal chapters of the first essay are: Quid sit philosophia (2a.), Utrum ens mo-
bile sit (3 v.), Natura est principium et caput (4v.), Materia est primum subiectum (8r.), Mo-
tus est actus entis in potentia (23v.), Tempus est numerus motus (40r.), De generatione (51r.),
De actione et compassione (55r.), De sensibus (65v.) a o.
Fol. 1 — 15r. are rubricated, including the C = Initial at the beginning. Annotations in the
margins.
Fine manuscript, dated 1466, of great importance in the knowledge of the natural sciences
of the Middle Ages.

of Index, 258 11. (numb. 1—254, 257—260), written in red and black by se-
veral hands. Contemp. blind-tooled calf. 200.—
A fine, well-preserved handbook of high pharmacological and chemical worth contai-
ning hundreds of recipes for all diseases. It begins with "Aqua ad faciem albi facenda" and
ends with" Ungtum D. Feldmilleri . . ." As sources the writers quote the following physi-
cians: Gerh. Peck from Westphalia, physician to the Emp. Ferdinand (Fol. 8); Diome-
de s Cornarius, physician in Vienna (Fol. 18a); Melchior Miilhauser, physician
in ordinary to the Archbishop of Salzburg (Fol. 18b); Dr. Otto Flosser (Fol. 6b, 7);
P. Joh. Schutz (Fol. 7b, 122 & elsewhere); Joh. Magenpuch (Fol. 7b, 121b); Mon-
dag n a n o (Fol. 16b); F e 1 d m u 11 e r (Fol. 27); Barth. Heffner (Fol. 54b); Petr.
Merede (Fol. 81b); S e b. Mair (Fol. 103b); Damiller (Fol. 104, 105); Joh.
Kronacker, of Villach (Fol. 226a), etc.
There are some remarkable chapters dealing with remedies against syphilis (Fol. 169 sc.);
the same subject is treated on Fol. 218 a: "Wider oder fur alle Franzosen, inwendig oder
auswendig des Leibs . . . volgen hemach vil vil hailsamer vnd bewerdte Recept . . . vnd
erstlicher wil ich beschreiben ein Remedy von Ciriacus frey vonn Straspurgk erfunden vnd
zusammen bracht vss allten btircher . . ."
Dentistry is treated on Fol. 93 vo & HOro.
Inside front-cover an entry as follows: "De ponderibus medicinalibus" and the inside of
the back-cover ends with the following date and device: "1579 Gedult bringt Erfarung".
