Very rare edition of this important work on dials, enlarged by GeorgPh.Har#-
d 6 r f f e r. The last part contains some curious conceits on sun-dials, including one sounding all hour#
by either exploding a charge of gunpowder by means of a burning-glass, or by sound caused by steam
generated by the same means; also how to make a sun-dial out of a sun-flower, etc.

As in the two British Museum copies the translator’s name "Antonio Brucioli" at the be-
ginning is obliterated.
Speaking and writing against the monks, Ant. Brucioli, incurred suspicion of heresy and
was put in prison and sentenced to death, but he obtained pardon and had to leave the
country. He fled to Venice, where his brothers printed his books.
