An interesting illustrated book on Mexico. The well-executed lithographs represent views of
Mexico-City and some districts, streets, monuments, places of the surroundings etc., all enlivened by
a rich background and of the highest interest for costumes. Further plates slow popular festivities,
street-scenes, mail-assault etc. The colourplates are of particular interest.
Rare and sought for.

Harrisse, p. 230, 236, 296. Rare edition of this most interesting collection of voyages
and discoveries in the New World enlarged by the relations of Ferd. Cortez ”De insulis
noviter inventis” and some other reports.
Very fine copy with extremely rare large folding map of the world which is wanting in
most copies. This interesting map shows North America drawn as a small island and
called ’’Terra de Cuba”; it is separated from South America by an isthmus. The map is in a
richly figured frame, in which we see a curious representation of the ’’Canibali” .

Exceptionally fine copy in a very interesting contemporary binding of best pre-
servation.

Fine original binding of wooden boards with richly stamped brown pigskin,
on the top inscription “Die Neu Welt”, catches for clasps (somewhat
rubbed). 250.—
Harrisse 188. Sabin 34106. The first German edition of the ’’Novus Orbis”, translated by
Michael Herr. This famous collection of Voyages contains the first three voyages of
Columbus, the four voyages of V e s p u c c i u s, the report of Cadamosto, Pinzon,
Marco Polo and Peter Martyr, Miechovius on Russia, etc. etc .
Both, Sabin and Trbmel emphasize the great rarity of this German edition which is said
to be even rarer than the original Latin edition of 1532.
Fine large copy in its well-preserved original binding.
