A REVIEW OF THE WORK EXECUTED BY STUDENTS
IN THE LEADING ART SCHOOLS OF
GREAT BRITAIN &■ IRELAND
WHAT are the Art Schools of Great Britain and Ireland doing to foster the closer union of the
Arts and Crafts ? The question is one of vital importance, now more than ever; for it is
essential that the present and coming generations should be fully trained and equipped for the
race for artistic predominance, to be run in the near future by the great nations of the world.
IN order that some general idea of existing conditions may be formed, the Editor of " The Studio,"
with the aid of the Principals, has prepared a Special Number of " The Studio " dealing with die
work of the leading Schools.
ARTICLES have been contributed by well-known art masters and others, and a special feature of
the volume consists of a large number of interesting illustrations (some of which are in colours)
including examples of:
INTERIOR DECORATION, FURNITURE, MURAL DECORATION, WOOD-CARVING,
STONE - CARVING, TEXTILE FABRICS, EMBROIDERY, LACE, CARPETS,
METAL-WORK, JEWELLERY, ENAMELLING, POTTERY, STAINED GLASS.
LEATHER-WORK, TYPOGRAPHY, LETTERING, ILLUMINATION, BOOKBINDING,
BOOK ILLUSTRATION, ETCHING, LITHOGRAPHY, POSTERS, FASHION PLATES, Eta
These illustrations, of which there are about three hundred, are presented in an artistic and
convenient form.
AS the edition is limited and there will be no reprint, orders should be placed without
delay.

CELLANEOUS" is 7/6 tor 31 words (about four lines) or less.
Additional words are charged at the rate of 6d. per line of eight
words. "EDUCATIONAL" and small "DESIGNS WANTED"
Advertisements are inserted at the rate of IS/- per inch Single
Column, and can only be accepted under these headings.
IMPORTANT.—New Advertisements and alterations in current an-
nouncements should reach this office not later than the 26th day of
the month previous to publication; but small announcements will be
accepted for the HOUSES and STUDIOS and MISCELLANEOUS
column up to the last day of the month if accompanied by a
remittance.
NOTE-—Replies to*'MiseeUaneou8" Advertisements may beaddreseed
to theOfflcesof Tub Studio, but in this case an extra charge of 61L will
be made to cover the cost of postage, etc Theaddresswillbe charged
as part of the advertisement and will count as nine words.
