A cross-section was taken in the last and
uppermost row of the terraces near the
settlement (fig. 25). The profile revealed that
the construction of the terraces had begun
from below as at Atuen. A retaining stone
wall (1.00 m high) was erected after the re-
moval of the top-soil layer. Fill from the
slope from above was applied behind the
wall, this fill being seen in layers 2 and 3 in
the profile. The lower terrace had been com-
