Stile Industrie
10 Jahre lang, von 1953 bis 1963, wurde die
einzige italienische Industrial-Design-Zeit-
schrift publiziert. Jetzt erschien mit der
Nummer 41 die letzte Ausgabe von 'Stile
Industria’. Daß diese Zeitschrift aufhört zu
existieren, ist umso bedauerlicher, da es sehr
wenige Zeitschriften gibt, die sich mit der
Produktgestaltung beschäftigen, mehr noch,
da die Zahl profilierter Zeitschriften auf diesem
Gebiet sehr klein ist. Und 'Stile Industria'
gehörte ohne Zweifel dazu. Alberto Rosselli
als Chefredakteur und Angelo Tito Anselmi
als Redakteur prägten den Charakter dieser
Publikation und trugen in hohem Maße dazu
bei, verworrene Vorstellungen über das
Industrial Design zu klären, und eindeutig
dazu Stellung zu beziehen. In Italien
geschrieben, für italienische Designer und
Industrielle in erster Linie gedacht, blieb 'Stile
Industria’ nicht auf Italien beschränkt; sie
hatte internationalen Rang. Vorbildlich war
diese Zeitschrift durch ihre Aufgeschlossenheit
(vor allem auch für wirtschaftspolitische
Fragen — die Nummern 35 und 36 z. B. über
den Gemeinsamen Markt), für ihre detaillierte
Dokumentation von Design-Arbeiten und den
umfangreichen Informationsservice. Diese
publizistische Leistung ist schon untrennbar
verbunden mit der jüngsten Geschichte des
Industrial Design in Europa. Es ist schade, daß
dem ein Ende gesetzt ist.
Stile Industria
The only Italian journal for industrial design
has been published for a period of ten years,
from 1953 to 1963. Now, with number 41,
'Stile Industria’ has appeared for the last time.
That this publication should cease to exist
is regrettable as there are very few papers
which deal with product design, and the more
so, because the number of distinguished
Journals in this field is extremely small. To
this dass 'Stile Industria' undoubtedly
belonged. Alberto Rosselli as Chief Editor
and Angelo Tito Anselmi as Editor stamped
the character of this publication and
contributed largely to the clarification of
confused notions on industrial design, taking
up a clear position with regard to these ideas.
Written in Italy and primarily intended for
Italian designers and Italian management,
'Stile Industria’ was not however confined to
Italy. It had international Standing. This
journal was exemplary in its forthrightness,
above all in questions of political economy
(numbers 35 and 36 on the Common Market,
for example), for its detailed documentation of
works of design and its extensive Information
Service. This journalistic achievement is
already inseparably bound up with the most
recent history of industrial design in Europe.
It is a great pity that it must now come to an
end.

Im April 1963 erschien in Argentinien eine
neue Zeitschrift: 'summa' — Zeitschrift für
Architektur, Technik und Design. Sie wird
herausgegeben von Carlos A. Mendez
Mosquera unter Mitarbeit von Jose A. Le Pera,
'summa' will — wie es aus der Einleitung zu
der Nr. 1 hervorgeht — ein Forum für
Architekten, Ingenieure und Techniker,
Industrial Designer und Grafiker in Latein-
amerika sein.

In April 1963, a new journal entitled 'summa',
for architecture, technics and design,
appeared in the Argentine. It is published by
Carlos A. Mendez Mosquera in co-operation
with Jose A. Le Pera. As is explained in the
introduction to the first number, 'summa' is
intended to be a forum for architects,
engineers and technicians, industrial designers
and graphic artists in Latin America.
Herbert Ohl, Dipl.-Ing., Arch., Leiter der
Abteilung Bauen, hat vom 11. Februar 1963
bis 17. Mai 1963 als Gastprofessor an der
Columbia University, New York, N.Y., USA,
unterrichtet über 'Das Industrialisierte Bauen
und seine Einwirkung auf die Architektur'.
Außerdem führte er Vorlesungen und Seminare
durch an der Princeton University, Princeton,
N.J.; University of Illinois, Urbana, III.; Carne-
gie Institute of Technology, Pittsburgh, Penna.
Herbert Ohl, Dipl.-Ing., Arch., Head of the
Building Department, gave instructions in the
field of 'Prefabricated Building and its Impact
on Architecture' as guest professor at the
Columbia University, New York, N.Y., USA,
from February 11 to May 17, 1963. Apart from
this he gave a series of lectures and seminars
at Princeton University, Princeton, N.J.; Uni-
versity of Illinois, Urbana, HL; Carnegie Insti-
tute of Technology, Pittsburgh, Penna.
