ANTIQUES. — CÉRAMIQUE GRECQUE.
En prévision du très-regrettable démembrement dont est encore
menacé le Musée Campana à l'heure où nous livrons ces pages
à l'impression, nous avons dû recueillir à la bâte quelques types
curieux destinés aux Musées provinciaux et qui, par leur forme,
leur mode de fabrication, les couleurs dont ils sont revêtus,
peuvent fournir des renseignements utiles à l'industrie artistique
contemporaine. De ce nombre sont les petits Vases Corinthiens
dont nous donnons ici quelques spécimens et qui étaient destinés
aux usages domestiques. On y renfermait les huiles, essences,
parfums, liqueurs, épices, condiments, etc. Les formes en sont
très-variées, et leur ornementation (peinte) n'a pour base que des
lignes de la plus grande simplicité. La peinture est exécutée sur
cru (ton de terre cuite naturelle); le brun rouge et le vernis
noir bistré sont seuls employés.
La vase n° 481, dont nous joignons l'aspect inférieur et le profil
du col, est aussi remarquable par sa forme sphérique à fond
aplati que par son ornementation en étoile ou fleur à cinq
branches.
Tous ces objets en gr. d'exéc. — Nos dessins indiquent suffi-
samment les tons des émaux.

POTERIE CORINTHIENNE.
(COLLECTIONS CAMPANA.)
In prévision of the most rogretful dismembering with which
the Musée Campana is again threatened at the very hour we
are sending thèse pages to the press, we felt bound to gather
in great haste a few precious characteristic spécimens which are
intended for the provincial Muséums, and which may procure
very uscful information to the contemporary artistic industry
by their form, their mode of manufacturing, and by the colours
with which they were painted. Among that number are the
small Corinthian Vases, of which we give a few spécimens and
which were intended for domestic purposes. They usod to keep
in them essence, oil, perfumes, liquors, spices, condiments, etc.
Their forms are excessively varied and their painted ornaments
are remarkable for the great simplicity of the lines. The paint-
ing is executed on the raw earth (a tinge of natural terra-cotta);
red-brown and sood-black are the only colours used.
The vase n° 481, of which we show the shape of its inferior
portion as well as a section of its neck, is remarkable fortboth its
spherical shape with a flat bottom and the star-shaped or flower-
likeorriament with flve branches.—AH thèse objects are real size.
— Our designs show sufficiently the tinges of the enamel.
