Cette planche, tirée d'un des cahiers de petites Frises de Salem -
hier, se distingue par l'élégance avec laquelle les rinceaux d'orne-
ments sont disposés. Les quatre sujets centraux, formés de
groupes d'enfants, représentent : fig. 473, Vénus Anadyomène
ou la Beauté; 474, Mars ou la Guerre; 475, Bacchus ou le Vin;
476, Cupidon ou VAmour. Les feuillages des rinceaux sont variés
en rapport avec les sujets. Le dessin des figures n'est pas à la
hauteur du talent de l'ornemaniste.— (Fac-similé.) — Sera

This plate, drawn from one of the cartons of Salembier'
Small Friezes, distinguishes itself by the élégance with which
the ornamenting foliage lias been arranged. The four central
subjects, formed by groups of children, represent : fig. 473,
Venus Anadyomène or Beauty ; Ali, Mars or War ; 475, Bac-
chus or Wine, 476, Cupid or Love. The winding foliage is in
harmony with the subjects. The design of the figures is not
