Hain* 12917. Proctor 5881.
EDITIO PRINCEPS of Philelphus’ chief poetical work, his
“Satyres” one of the foremost litterary achievements of Italian Renaissance hu-
manism and a masterpiece of the new Latin poetical style freed from all tra-
ces of Mediaevalism.
Filelfo (1398 to 1481) one of the most important Italian humanists lived
at Padua, Venice, Constantinople, Milan, Rome, and Florence.
Finely printed specimen from Valdarfers famous press. He
rightly called himself in the colophon of this book: “huius eximiae artis impri-
mendi consumatissimum Magistrum” and certainly all his productions show a
distinctive elegance of type and page-setting, which justifies this claim.
Large copy, a few small wormholes, stained in places, the blank margin
of the first leaf repaired.
79 PLOTINUS. Opera. (Edited and translated byMarsiliusFicinus).

Hain*-Cop. 13121. Proctor 6156. Dibdin, Bibl. Spencer. II, p. 272, No. 374-
EDITIO PRINCEPS of the works of Plotin. It is the only impression of
Ficinus’s translation of Plotinus, in the XVth century and it is printed with
the clear type 3 of Miscomini. A the end the full colophon with the dedi-
cation to Laurentius Medici.
Our copy is in a very clean and fresh state of preservation, with large
and rough margins. In the first and last leaves there are a few wormholes.
The 1 st leaf a1 is wanting, as in all copies described by the bibliographers. It
is probable that this leaf is blank. The last two leaves containing the index,
also wanting in nearly all copies known, exist here.
