Lipperheide 2884. The “Freydal” belongs to that splendid series of works planned by Maximi-
lian I.; it is extant only in one manuscript in the Vienna Imperial Library, which is here given in
facsimile. It was to commemorate the justs, tournaments and carnival-mummeries in which the “Last
of the knights” took part. This excellent reproduction gives most interesting and authentic pictorial
material for the costume, knight-armour, heraldry, and fancy-dress of the time of the German Re-
naissance; also much historical and genealogical information on the noblemen who took part in the
festivals.
Complete and fine copy. Rare.
