With 58 engraved plates and 2 engr. vignettes. Full red French
morocco, richly gilt back covered with small stamps of flowers, stars
and dots, on the bottom compartment the arms of Cesar-Henri,
Comte He £a£uzerne, gilt triple fillets and corner fleurons
on sides, ins. dent., g. e. Frs. 1200.—
Not in Lowndes. Desirable and rare edition bound in a very fine
French armorial binding. The nice engravings are executed by L S.
M till er and C. Grig n ion.
The Comte de La Luzerne, Seigneur de Beuzeville, lived from 1737
to 1799. He became governor general of the isles Sous-le-Vent and minister of
naval affairs. Lateron he went to England and Austria. He died at Bernau near
Wells. (Of. Guigard II, p. 278).
The copy and the binding are in a very fine and fresh state of
preservation. With two engraved ex-libris of Cesar-Henri de La Luzerne.

Complete and good copy of this highly esteemed work which is illustrated
with numerous well drawn plates with the text in Latin and German on
the opposite page.
The authors of this work are the brothers Basilius and Hieronymus
Besler who lived at Nuremberg from ab. 1561 to ab. 1630. The plants described
here were in the garden of Joh. Corn, of Gemmingen, bishop of Eichstadt accor-
ding to whom the collection is named. The scientifical descriptions to each
plant were written by Ludwig Jungermann, botanist at Giessen.
The complete work may be found rarely. Good copy, slightly waterstained
in places.
