Fol. Goth, types, 40 lines, 46 unn. leaves, with sign. With
two nice woodcuts. Rubricated copy, with capitals supplied in
red and blue, partly with pen-drawn ornaments. Contemporary
wooden boards, covered with blind stamped pigskin. Frs. 1.800.—

EDITIO PRINCEPS. Early and nice product of Quentel who began prin-
ting one year ago, 1479. The two nice cuts, the first on the 1st leaf
and the second after the colophon on 1. 46 recto, show the “Salvator mundi”
and Christ crucified. Of some interest are the extraordinary signatures used here.
The sheets being signed a, aa, aaa, aaaa; b, bb, bbb, bbbb &c., instead of the
usual numbers.
Johannes de Turrecremata or Torquemada, Spanish ecclesiastic,
was bom at Valladolid in 1388. Turrecremata joined the Dominican order and
has taught for some time at Paris. After some years he became prior of the Do-
minican house first in Valladolid and then in Toledo.
