1’he second part contains the descriptions of the dances and the engravings.
These engravings are the work of Giacomo Franco born at Venice

Agostino Carracci. The engravings represent 8 different figures of dances of
a man and woman in interesting costumes.
The book is dedicated to the Grand Duchess of Toscana, Bianca Capel-
lo de‘ Medici. The author, the first important dancing-master of the Italian
school, was born about 1531. O. Bie, Der Tanz. 3. Aufl. treats p. 155—167 of
this book: . . . dass es sich hier um die einzigen Dokumente handelt, die eine
hervorragend begabte Epoche der wir unsere ganze Bewegungskultur und das
Signalement des modernen Gesellschaftstanzes verdanken, von ihrer Auf-
fassung rhytmisch bewegter Menschen uns hinterliefi.
This very desirable Original Edition is of the greatest rarity. Exceptio-
