The author, Italian mathematician and astrologer, lived from 1523 to 1590.

Sir William Congreve (1772—1828) was the inventor of war rockets, which were very effectual
in a naval attack on the French flotilla in Boulogne in 1806, where they were fired in salvos from
boats of special construction.
The pictures in this interesting treatise demonstrate the use of this new weapon in battles,
on the sea and in sieges.
Slightly stained by damp otherwise good copy. W. a library stamp on the titlepage.

Exceptional fine copy of this well known celestial atlas.
On the added plates there have been represented the comet of 1742 by Seutter, on this
plate we see also a globe with Australia, the eclipse of sun in July 1748 in 2 plates by G. M.
Lowiz with representation of three globes and a map of the world, the eclipse of moon in August,
1748 by T. Mayer, a plate of dialling, the endless Julian calendar and a table of winds by Matth.
