F we rightly consider the Frame of
the whole Universe and Method of
the all-excellent Wisdom in her
work , as creating the sorms of
things infinitely divers, so according
to Dignity of Essenee or Vertue in
effe£t,we must acknowledge the same

to hold a Soveraignty, and transcendent predomi-
nance,as well of Rule asPlace,each over other. Among
the heavenly bodies we see the Nobler Orbs, and of
greatest inssuence to be raised aloft; the lesse esse&ual,
depressed. Of Elements, the Fire the mod pure and
operative,to hold the highest place : In compounded
bodies, of things as well seniible as insensible, there
runs a vein of Excellence proceeding from the Form,
enobling(inthe same kind)some other above the rest.
The Lyon we say is King of Beasts,the Eagle chief Spencer in h's
of Birds 5 the Whale and Wirle-pool among Fiflies; *airy Queen.
Jupiters Oak the Forreji’s King. Among Flowers,we
most admire and esteem the Rose : Among Fruits,the
Pomroy and Queen-apple ; among Stones, we value
above all the Diamond : Mettals.Gold and Silver: and
since we know these to transser their inward excellence
and vertues to their Species successively, shall we not
