The Trassice os Blazonry,
dred years old, and hath from that time continued to
this present Age in one Race, and in one Province.*
and though the want of a great Fortune retained them
from the Ambition os being of the Nobility* yetthere
are few families within his Majesties Kingdom, as I

though inheriting but a small Fortune from his Ance-
stors, by his Courage, Virtue, and Loyalty is digni-
fied by his Sacred Majdty, with the Honors of Earl
of Midleton, Lord Clairmont and Fettercaincy and at
present his Majesties High Commissioner forthe King*
dom of Scotland, in which office he hath, and willcer-
taily render his Majesty such Loyall and signall Ser-
vice, that nonequestions a further advance of his Ma-
jesties Roy all Favours to him.
The Earl of Midleton’s Coat of Arms,
H E beareth sor his Archievment, Party par Fess,
Topas and Rubie within aborder o( Scotland ( thae
is a double TresTure Fleury, and Countersscury ) a
Lion Rampant all Counter Changed of the same,
HE beareth for Supporters, Two Eagles displayed.
Diamond Crowned and Armed , Topas the dexter
holding in her beak a Thistle proper, and the Sinister
a Role,
H E beareth sor his Crest on an Earls Crown atour
Diamond, on which is a Lion Rampant, Rubies Crown-
ed and Armed topas, with this Motto (F 0 R71S
IN ARDVIS) the Mantling Rubie and Erimue.
