name of Lovell. This Coat
is thus born by the Right
Worshipful Sir Francis
Lovell Knight, in the
County of Norsolk^.
This was aiso the Coat
of Sir Thomas Lovell,
Knight of the Garter,
made by King Henry the seventh, of whose Househe
was Treasurer, and Prefident of the Council. This
Sir Thomas Lovell was a sifth son of Sir Ralph Lovell of
Barton Bendijh, in the County of Norfolk/. This his
Coat with the Garter about it, standeth over Lin-
colnes*Inne Gate. He Founded the Nunnery of Hal-
Iwell (where was also his house ) on a wall of which
not many years since, was to be read this Inscription.
All ye Nans os Halliwell,
Tray ye both day and night,
For the Soul os Sir Thomas Lovell,
Whom Harry the [eventh made Knight.
It appeareth also, that Sir William Lovell, Lord
* In Norfolk. Morley, was Knight of the Garter: for in Morley *
Church, the seat of his Barony, is yet remaining in a
glasTe«window (which I haveseen) this Coat, with the
Garter about it.
