Le Roy died in 1803, much regretted by Ins friends for Ins ac-
quirements and private virtues. His pupils caused a medal to be
struck in his honour bearing his portrait, with a Doric column

with an antique galley and a compass, with this inscription
" Vote par les Architectes ses Eleves", a tribute that must ex-
cite a regret, that a mind and talents which could command
much respect and homage should, in the haste to anticipate rival
artists, have ever been engaged in a work unproductive of per
