First French edition of a very interesting, detailed account of the siege of Ostend, from
July 1601 to Sept. 1604. The first part of the book reports the Battle of Nieuport between the archduke
Albert and the stadholder Maurice of Nassau. At end we find also an account of siege of S 1 u i s
which has been fallen into the possession of Maurice after the loss of Ostend.
The interesting plates represent not only battles and combats, bnt also fortifications, pallisades &c.
The work has been originally written in Dutch and translated by J. De le Heye.
Good copy, somewhat browned in places.
