Grind your Tops after the same manner you do^
your lake, they are both of one nature.

Red Lead, in Latine is called Syricum, it was wont
to be made of Ceruse burnt: which grind with a quan-
tity of Saffron* and sfiffe Gum lake: for your Saffron
will mak e it orient, and of a Marigold colour.
Turnsoyle o
Turnsoyle is made os old linnen rags died, you shall
use it after this maimer: lay it in a saucerof vineger,
and set it over a chafing dish of coals , and let it boy!,
then take it off, and wring it into a sheJJ, and put unto
it a little Gum Arabick, letting it hand three or four
hours, till it be dissolved : it is good to shadow carna-
tions, and all yellows.
Kept.
You shall grind your Roset with Brasil water, and
it will make you a deep and a fair purple , ifyou put
Ceruse to it, it maketh a lighter, if you grind it with
Litmose, it maketh a fair Violet.

Grind your Brown of Spain with Brasil water, and
af you mingle it with Ceruse, it maketh an horse ssesh
