ANNIVERSARY ADDRESS
DESIGNED AND EXECUTED
BY ROBERT GIBBINGS
Jan Gordon, served with the Red Cross
Section of the Serbian Army in the cam-
paign against Austria, and both have re-
corded their impressions of that tragic
phase of the Great War. 000
Celtic ornament in combination with
lettering in harmony therewith is admirably
utilized in the Golden Wedding Address
presented by the members of the Old Cor-
konian Club, of University College, Cork,
to their president. Both the decoration
and the lettering are the work of one of the
signatories, Capt. Robert Gibbings, whom
our readers will remember as an artist with
an exceptional talent for wood-engraving.
Mr. John Nisbet, whose drawing of that
160
beautiful Gothic edifice the cathedral at
Tours is here reproduced, is well known in
Glasgow as an architect who combines with
a regard for the spirit and needs of the
present a reverence for the great achieve-
ments of the past, of which he has ever been
a diligent student, and during vacation
rambles his skilful pen is usually employed
in making drawings which give eloquent
expression to this sentiment. a 0
Mr. Sidney Joseph's work as a pen-
draughtsman has been noticed and illus-
trated in these pages before, and we now
give a further example in the reproduction
of his drawing, A Discussion. 0 0
