XXVII. ELEUSIS
The finds at Eleusis show that the town was in fairly close communication with
Egypt in the dark ages of the twelfth and seventh centuries. Eleusis at that time was
of course not dependent upon Athens. She was a free city, and her citizens may well
have gone raiding or trading to the south.
