The following scarabs are of interest as providing two of the earliest objects yet
found on the Mainland. It is curious that at Sparta there is to be found such a
deposit, covering a period of over a thousand years and proving that the Geometric
Spartan was not above buying "genuine antiques" on his travels, for obviously these
