found that languages have many a surprise.
He said to his wife
“Never laughed so much in my life!”
“Why! the german of ’ot ’ere is ice!!” (heiß).

A dancing master in Zehlendorf Ost
went in for the latest Rohkost.
An onion a day
keeps the doctor away!
But alas! for the pupils he lost!

There once was a fashionable young hag
who said “It ’s a TERRIBLE fag
to go without dinner
and daily grow thinner
till I look like six bones in a bag!”

Es klagte ein Maler in Verdohl
(Er malte hauptsächlich Grünkohl!)
