printed with his beautiful type. Only few copies are known. No copy in U. S. A. (acc. to Census).

Michael Wenssler, 1475. Fol. Goth. 360 unn. 11., supplied in red and blue alter-
nately, 7 woodcut initials coloured in blue; on fol. 2a vo a large
initial, painted in red and blue and heightened with gold; on
the outer margin of this leaf a floral border painted in red and green
with an allegorical figure. Full brown calf, gilt fillet borders, inside
dent., g. b., g. e. (18 th cent, binding). 300.—

One of the earliest dated Basle imprints. The famous Lent sermons of Roberti Caracciolo de Lecce,
were printed by Bernhard Richel in partnership with Michael Wenssler. This is one of the only two
books they printed together. On ()0 6 r a line of text has dropped from its place to the foot of the
page, the mistake being corrected in early manuscript.
A very fine copy with wide margins. There are few MS.-annotations in margins and two
escutcheons drawn in black by the hand of a former owner.
Only 2 copies in U. S. A, (acc. to Census).

Petrus* of Bergamo compendious index to the works of St. Thomas de Aquino is especially in
this, second and enlarged recension till yet for its great accuracy an indispensable help. — A splendid
impression. The printed pages show a singular appearance by using of arabic numerals in the
text. Very fine clean copy with large margins, nearly uncut, in its original binding.

A rare edition of this esteemed book, which passed through a great number of editions during
the 15 th century. “The sentences attained immense popularity ultimately becoming the text-book in
almost every theological school.** Brit, Encycl.
A good and perfect copy with very numerous MS. annotations by the hand of a contemporary
owner, break mended in title-leaf, a few wormholes through last leaves.

2 cols., 319 unn. 11. Rubricated, with numer. capitals in red and blue, the first
adorned with the figure of a man in profil and two phantastic
animals. Original wooden boards, covered with blind-stamped pigskin, half of the
upper cover supplied by pasteboard, rebacked, with one clasp. 1800.—

Exceedingly rare specimen of the earliest art of printing, the 7 th
Latin Bible ever printed. Only 6 nibles are printed before this and only one of those has a date.
The copy is in the best condition, with ample margins, adorned with many capitals with
pen-drawn ornaments often extending over the whole page. The rubricator has added a heading to each
