„The Duke di Cassano expatiates, with a sort of rapture, upon this volume, and upon its com-
panion. He calls them ‘magnificent1 remarking upon the Beauty of paper, the splendour of the type
and the perfection of the printing.“ They are doubtless two elegant little tracts. The principal title
of book tells us that the work treats of “Warlike and Heroic Fortitude1* and that it is dedicated to
Alfonso Duke Calabria*1 (Dibdin, Bibl. Spenc. V, p. 99).
Unusually clean and large copy, the last two quires are transposed at the beginning, small
stamp on leaf 1.
See Reproduction, Plate 20.

Superb specimen of Sehoeffer's press with full colophon. The f i v e - 1 i n e colophon and
the nice printer's device of Schoeffer are printed in red.
Fine and very large copy, a few leaves insignific. stained, in the first and last leaves
a few wormholes, on reverse of the first leaf a library stamp erased.
