The invention of printing is explicitly referred to on Fol. 89 vo.
With a beautiful full-page cut on reverse of title.
At the end of the registers the name of the rubricator in red ink: Magnus Sartoris / 1493. The

the same hand a note on the death of the Emperor Frederic III: Anno salutis 1493 etc.
Very fine copy in a beautiful armorial binding, the lower blank margins
of three leaves mended, a rent in 1. 46 rep. without loss of text.
178 SIBYLLA, BARTHOL. Speculum peregrinarum quaestionum ad Alfonsum de Ara-
gonia. StraBburg, Joh. Griininger, 1499. Fol. Goth, and Rom. 10 unn., 253 num. 11.

Fol. Goth. 183 num. 11. With a fine full-page woodcut border con-
sisting of floral and leafy scrolls, and with ma n y w o o d c u t ini-

First edition. One of the earliest Ulm imprints, executed with Zainer's first type. The fine wood-
cut border on leaf 8 is attributed by Weil op. cit. to the same master who illustrated the well-
known Ulm Boccaccio of 1473.
Most interesting binding whose tool with the chained pelican represents probably the arms
of the monastery where it has been bound.
Fine copy with exceptionally I a r ? e margins, few old. ms. notes and under-
linings, some leaves insignificantlv stained or spotted, a little piece of leaf 40 r damaged by a stain
with loss of a few letters, otherwise a well preserved copy in its old binding.
