One of the earliest imprints by Zell, the prototypographer of Cologne. From the authentic date
on the first leaf of our copy it is certain that it can not have appeared later than 1470.
A very fine and large copy with a most interesting painted exlibris. Slightly stained on the

Three early Zell imprints in a most interesting Cologne binding. The fine ex-libris of B.
Fueger painted on the first leaf of the first work proves by its date, 1470, that these three books can-
not have appeared after 1470.

Gilbert of Hoyland (cl. 1172) was a disciple and friend of St. Bernard, by whom he was admitted
into the Cistercian order; in 1163 he became Abbot of Swineshead, in Lincolnshire. These sermons
were composed about 1166, for in the forty-first he refers to Aelred, Abbot of Rievaulx (1109?—1166)
as lately deceased. Large copy with old ms. notes, some small stains in places, the first leaf repaired
in blank parts. — Only 1 ccpy in U. S. A. (acc. io Census).
