famous works of Mesue the younger. The work of Mesue consists of the treatise on laxatives,
on compound medicines, and on therapeutics. This last treatise not having been finished was
completed by Petrus of Albano and Franciscus of Piemont. Our edition contains
further: Honestis, Chr. G. de. Tractates de aqua ordei et de modo faciendi ptisanam. Nicolaus Prae-

Montagnana (died 1460), famous anatomist and surgeon lectured at Padua during nearly two
centuries. ,,The Consilia, of which Montagnana gives some 305, usually run over the patient’s’ phy-
sical condition and disease, winding up with seasonable advice as to what to eat, what drugs to
take and what things to avoid. Being personal histories, they are of interest chiefly for their many
original observations and as showing that physicians had already begun to keep careful records of
their dayly practice**. (Garrison.) — Besides the Consilia the volume contains the follow, interesting
tracts: De balneis; De compo sitione et dosi medicinarum; Antidotarium.
Complete copies with the Tabula and the ,,Tractatus de mirachiali dispositione** (1. 7—8) are very
rare. SI. wormed espec. at beginn. and end, title and last leaf mounted, otherwise fine large copy.
