This book containing S. Augustin's most important “opuscula" like “Soliloquia“, “De immorta-

the king Mathias Corvinus of Hungary. A letter of Severinus Chalcus comprising the first
two leaves of this book mentions him having been charged with education of John, son of Mathias
Corvinus.
Fine volume, remarkable for its contents, for its excellent preservation and for its interesting
provenience.

GKW. 4373. Hain 3398. Proct.. 1966. BMC. II, 412. Pell. 2551. Hase, Koberger nr. 11.
First dated edition and the first with commentary and translation of Boethius famous work, one
of the first dated books produced by this most prolific of all Nuremberg printers.
The textual and typographical arrangement is remarkable, giving first a small portion of the
original Latin text, spaced so that 23 lines fill a page, and then the literal translation, into a most
queer German, set quite close in 46—47 lines to a full page. By the way, this book appears to be
the first to contain an original Latin text together with its German translation.
A magnificent Koberger imprint, printed in one of the finest Gothic types ever designed. Fine
copy with broad margins. The fast leaves si. waterstained on margins.
