dence this idea is ex-
emplified by means of the
familiar thistle, combined
with a modified octagon,
which conveys the sug-
gestion of the Greek
cross, both of these motifs
adapting readily to the
rigid and vigorous charac-
ter of the glistening white
granite of which the
building is composed.
