Much more information is waiting for those who shall investigate the thousands
of unelucidated scarabs scattered in the muséums of Europe, and in N. America, in
Cairo, and in the hands of Egyptian dealers, also those in private Collections, often
hidden away from the student by their owners.

Thèse monumentini, as the Italians call them, have been strangely neglected by
Egyptologists, with the exception of Professor Flinders Pétrie and Professor New-
berry, who have each published a considérable variety of scarabs; though both Egyp-
tologists completely avoid explanation of most of the more interesting mythological
spécimens such as are figured in this article.

PROVENANT DU GRAND TEMPLE DE DENDÉRAH

Cette année-ci, en déblayant les abords de la porte monumentale qui donne accès
dans l'enceinte de l'ancienne ville de Dendérah, M. Baraize a recueilli, outre de nom-
breux blocs chargés d'inscriptions hiéroglyphiques et provenant des montants même,
un certain nombre de pierres portant des inscriptions grecques et ayant appartenu à
des bases de statues. Je dois à son obligeance des photographies et des estampages qui
me permettent de les publier sans retard.

Ce sont d'abord deux fragments d'inscription très mutilés, ne donnant qu'une partie
du protocole impérial :
