Then follow three registers : in
the first two, family worship is représentée! : in t le third, offerings are brought by
servants, maie and female : amông the men six are °—tï), one is "MH" , one 1?^, and
one o v\ : of the women, ail those whose titles are visible are y^. I omit the naines re-
cord ed on this monument, as they are given in the Dictionnaire des Noms hiérogly-
phiques of Lieblein, no. 311.

The first five Unes of our inscription contain the ordinary formula, or rallier, a
mixture of several of the ordinary formulas. There are several interesting variants.
"% Jli^l 1 m ^' ^ takes place °f the usual ^^^jj^ ^he expression
sometimes founcl beside offering-tables1. In the list of feasts for "I have

not seen elsewhere. At J\ (j j <rr>@ (wh'ere J\ is of course a mistake for a)
begins a séries of phrases belonging to the formula represented by C 3 of the Louvre2 :

for the ordinary 1 ^ <}^s§' ^ *s a ^orm frequently found in lists of feasts. In the
line commences a short account of the functions of Sobkî : he says : " My lord gave to
" me my town (that I might be in it) as prince : he gave it to me as superintendant of
" soldiers, because of my excellence and my perfection in the heart of bis majesty : it
" is I who acted as the superior of the hewers of stone of bis majesty in every work of
" the king's bouse : he who is over the secrets of the necropolis, Sobkî. " The group

I contains a dilficulty : if I translate correctly, we should only expect one aaaaaa

immediately after A : it is possible that it is a fault of the sculptor. The variant
