Deexpositione Insantum, '
T> UT we (lull have no need to trouble our selvesto get

defective in any of their Members, We* read indeed that* Exod.7. v.t.
Mofes was ufed thus, becaufe he was 3^ or a Godly child:
bat he was rather hidden from Tbaraih,then expofed to the
river. This practice was in mod places at the pleafure of the
parent. But at Sparta,I read,that they took better advice: for
there they had a Committee of purpofe called by them
appointed to examine every child , whether it were iynaytt
pwMthiov found, or not. The places where they expofed them,
were fometimes Rivers and Lakes, fuch as CMojes was put
in by his Mother, aud Romulus and Remm by their tin-
kle zy£militu; fometimes a finke or a gutter , according to
