Алексея Мартынова длилась, к сожалению, не-
долго - до июня 1937 года, тем не менее, она
осталась в истории русской художественной
эмиграции в Бельгии одной из самых ярких
и значительных страниц. Усилия А. Н. Марты-
нова были направлены на пропаганду в Бельгии
культуры восточноевропейских стран, в частно-
сти, русского искусства, а с другой стороны, -
на оказание помощи художникам-эмигрантам,
нуждающимся в материальной и огранизацион-
ной поддержке.
За свою деятельность А. Н. Мартынов неод-
нократно получал благодарственные письма от
глав дипломатических миссий славянских стран
в Брюсселе и был награжден Орденом Святого
Саввы V степени Королевства Югославии, при-
суждаемым «за достижения в области культуры,
государственного образования, науки, государ-
ственной службы, богословия, а также за услуги,
оказываемые королю, государству и народу».
Алексей Николаевич Мартынов, представи-
тель младшего поколения русской эмиграции,
своей деятельностью в Бельгии выполнил важ-
ную миссию знакомства Запада со славянской
культурой и искусством.

Alexis de Martynoffs "Revue de 1'Europe Orientale"
as the Nidus of Slavic Culture in Belgium. 1935-1937
From the early 1920s, the intellectual and cultural life of the Russian emigration in Belgium was in the
process of developing. An important role in this process was played by Russian periodical press, which
was mostly military and politically oriented. This orientation corresponded with specificity of Russian
community: Brussels was the center of Russian military emigration.
The emigre press was distributed in scarce copies in Russian, sometimes with using the old Russian
spelling, and was addressed to Russian community. The “Revue de 1’Europe Orientale” was an exception,
as it was published in French and for the European readers interested in the history and culture of Eastern
Europę. The activity of Revue founder Alexis de Martynoff was successful and within a short period of
time the magazine got a significant position within the Belgian press and transformed to the center of
Slavic culture in Belgium. Alexis de Martynoff s multiple cultural activity remains unknown and needs
to be studied.
