Inspiration of Romę: genre of "antique idylls"
in Henryk Siemiradzki^ work
In article the questions of formation of “idylls” of Siemiradzki their composed characteristics, evolution,
an existing, a place in the context of a current “neogreek” in the European and Russian art of the 1870-
1890th years are considered. One of the largest historical painters of the time, the author of numerous
ensembles of lists in churches and palaces of the nobility, nowadays in this auality Siemiradzki is almost
forgotten, in memory of descendants it remained, first of all, as the author of the solar antique idylls won-
derfully immersing the viewer in the atmosphere of serene and joyful life of mankind at the beginning of
European civilization.
The idyll subject in Siemiradzki s creativity based on searches of harmony and need for the stabilizing
beginnings of life remains a little developed. In article are defined making “an idyllic utopia” of Siemi-
radzki, an antithesis to the art of his opponents which is politically pointed, turned to the social conflicts,
Communications of idyllic motives in Siemiradzki s creativity and in a number of works of artists of so-
called Southern Russian group are tracked.
Siemiradzkis creativity coukl be compared to low-standard samples of fiction, but there was a big
layer of literary creativity (A. A. Fet, A. N. Maykov, A. K. Tolstoy, early I. S. Turgenev), with which at it
much in common: the concentrated work on a form esthetics, the Beauty cult, hobby antiquity era, lack
of rectilinear topical character. T. L. Karpova madę attempt of inclusion of creativity of Siemiradzki in
the literary context corresponding to substantial and stylistic features of its art.
