Entanglement of threads and life
in the work of Tamara Hans-Jaworska
Tamara Jaworska passed the way from Arkhangelsk via Warsaw to Toronto. As a child, she witnesed the
October Revolution in Russia, the formation of the independent Second Polish Republic, survived the
nightmare of World War II, Stalins time, to finally in 1968 leave the country as the wife of the director
Tadeusz Jaworski.
Vicissitudes did not disturb the artist s Creative work. Her domain is the tapestry. She graduated with
honours the State Higher School of Fine Arts in Lodź in 1952. Her biggest success in the 50s was a gold
medal at the Milan Triennale XI for decorative fabrics.
Tamara Jaworska left in Poland lots of her works which are preserved in museums in Lodź and War-
saw. However, her Creative development was to show in exile in welcoming Canada. There her works
were accepted by the international artistic community. That has been proven by prestigious commissions,
exhibitions and received awards. What s morę, the insufficient knowledge of her work in Poland is very
surprising.
