6 Jahrgänge von Absolventen die Schule
verlassen (1957 — 1962). Diese Artikelserie

Former Students
In a series of articles we intend to report
about the work of former students of the HfG.
Since the foundation of the HfG, 6 graduate
years have left the school (1957 — 1962). The
series of articles opens with an account
of 2 former students of the Industrial Design
Department.

Geb. 1934 in Tetschen/Tschechoslowakei
ehemals Sudetenland. Nach dreijährigem
Praktikum für das Studium der Elektrotechnik
trat er 1955 in die Grundlehre der HfG ein.
1959 schloß er das Studium mit dem Diplom
der Abteilung Produktgestaltung ab. Thema
des theoretischen Teils der Diplomarbeit:
Konstruktive Gesichtspunkte im Bau elektro-
nischer Geräte und Anlagen. Der praktische
Teil der Diplomarbeit bestand in der Gestal-
tung eines tragbaren Elektronenstrahl-
Oszillographen mit auswechselbaren Einheiten.
Er arbeitete eine zeitlang für la Rinascente
in Mailand und im Studio Bonetto, ebenfalls
in Mailand. Heute ist er tätig als Industrial
Designer im Studio Ricerche Design Olivetti,
das von Ettore Sottsass geleitet wird;
daneben noch als Entwerfer für die italie-
nische Firma Poltronova (Sessel). Er berät
zwei deutsche Firmen, die Gläser, Keramik-
waren und Lampen herstellen. Während seiner
Studienzeit hat er einen Tierbaukasten ent-
worfen. Ende September wurden seine
Spielzeuge für Kinder und Erwachsene in der
Galerie TI Sestante’ in Mailand ausgestellt.

Born in 1934 in Tetschen/Czechoslovakia,
formerly Sudetenland. After completing a
three-year practical training for the study of
eiectrotechnics, he entered in 1955 the
foundation course of the HfG. In 1959 he
completed the course with the diploma of
the Industrial Design Department. Theme
of the theoretical part of the diploma work:
constructional aspects in the building
of electronic Instruments and Systems.
The practical part of the diploma work was
the design of a portable oscillograph with
interchangeable units.
He was working for some time for la Rinas-
cente in Milan and in the Studio Bonetto,
also in Milan. Today he is employed as
industrial designer in the Studio Ricerche
Design Olivetti, directed by Ettore Sottsass;
in addition as designer for the italian
firm Poltronova (arm-chairs). He is Consultant
designer for two German firms, which manu-
facture glass, ceramics and lamps. While still
a Student he designed a box of animal-shaped
bricks. At the end of September his toys
will be exhibited in the gallery TI Sestante’
in Milan.

Achievements

Unter der Leitung von Ettore Sottsass Mit-
arbeit an der Gestaltung der elektronischen
Rechenanlage ELEA der Firma Olivetti. Mit
Ettore Sottsass: Inneneinrichtung der Bar
Guglielmone in Genua (1961). Bar und Belve-
dere sowie Ausstellungsstand für Grund-
materialien in der Ausstellung Ttalia 6T in
Turin. Mit Rodolfo Bonetto: Radio-, Fernseh-
und Tonbandgeräte für italienische und
französische Firmen.

Under the direction of Ettore Sottsass
he contributed to the design of the electronic
Computer System ELEA, Olivetti.
Together with Ettore Sottsass: inferior design
of the bar Guglielmone Genoa (1961). Bar,
belvedere and exhibition Stands (for basic
materials) in the exhibition Ttalia 196T.
Together with Rodolfo Bonetto: radio and
television sets and tape recorders for Italian
and French firms.
