the inventory of 1869, attributed to Hendrick Goltzius (1558-1617)2* In the last catalogue
from the Ossolineum (1998), this drawing is related to Abrahaam Bloemaert (1564-1651)
as well as even GoltziusT' The composition of this drawing is a crude fixation of the
subject before proceeding to the details. This can be seen in the sketchy denotation of the
facial parts, the body of the Christchild, clothing and background. The contour lines, as in
the drawings of the Dutch Mannerists of the second half of the 16th century, are decorative
and can be compared to the allegorical presentation of Bartholomeus Spranger (1546-
1611) (ill. 5). This drawing also belongs to the Lubomirski collection, although it is not
included m the Flemish but rather the German school. In Spranger's drawing there is a
distinct influence of the Italian and classic art, as seen in the choice of an allegorical
subject and interest in representating human nakedness. It is notable that, besides the draw-
ings of Spranger in the German school, those of other artists of he Low Countries from this
period are also included, such, for instance, as by Hans Vredeman de Vries (1526-1609)
and Hans van Aken(1552-1615)2^ These artists were also placed in the Habsburg Gallery
in Vienna under the German school."

drawings attributed to him.
