is the fact that some phenomena characteristic of
the Polish architecture of the 17th century are
found in the early 18th century in Russia. For
instance, the buildings commissioned in the cirele
of Peter the Great, a fervant lover of Dutch archi-
tecture, and Tylman van Gameren's works in
Poland. At the begining of the 18th century Russ-
ian architecture bagan to follow the main lines of
the development of European culture. From then
on we can speak not only of the common elements
of Russian and Polish architecture but also of
the mutual interdependence of the art in hoth
countries.
