be practically the same as that of last year in
Holland, which proved a signal success. Students
of the class will have the entree to the National
Gallery in London, on students' days, and will be
able to visit other portionsof England. The class
will sail from New York on Tuesday, June 14.
Various prizes and scholarships will be awarded.
A SCHEME which should appeal to every one inter-
ested in American art has been launched by the
Pennsylvania Academy of Fine Arts, under the
leadership of Mr. Edward H. Coates. It is for no
less an object than to establish a Gallery of National
Protraiture in America, similar to the National Por-
trait Gallery in London. Already the Academy has
a quantity of paintings which would form a nucleus,
and there should be no difficulty in adding to it
portraits of those who have been eminent in the
history of the United States. The scheme will be

TuE ART INSTITUTE OF CHICAGO issues a cata-
logue of the Seventeenth Annual Exhibition of the
Chicago Architectural Club, comprising a brochure
of some forty pages, illustrated. A perusal of this
catalogue is a survey of the state of architecture in
America. The Commencement Exhibition of the
