IDINBURGH.—Miss
M. Cameron is not
the first Scottish artist
who has come under
the influence of Spain, and!
received inspiration from the
picturesqueness of the everyday
life and the beautiful scenery of
that country. It will be seen
from the illustrations given here
that she has studied very care-
fully the characteristics of the
Spaniards, their habits and their
costumes ; while her versatility
is exemplified in the decorative
landscape Segovia, Castille, which
is now being exhibited at the
Royal Academy. It is a well
composed picture, in which the
colour scheme is simple and the
distance well suggested. The
two figure subjects are admirable
studies of character and expres-
sion, showing shrewdness ot
observation and vigorous execu-
tion. Miss Cameron is a regular
exhibitor at the Royal Scottish
Academy, and has twice been
